Aloo Gajar Matar
A dry Indian dish with potatoes, carrots and green peas
Ingredients
- 5 Potatoes (peeled and chopped)
- 7 Carrots (peeled and chopped)
- 1 cup Peas
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp cumin seed
- 1 tsp red chill powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1.5 tsp salt (or start with lesser and keep adding to your taste)
Instructions
- In a pan, heat oil on medium
- When the oil is heated, add cumin seed
- Once the cumin seed start to pop, add red chilli powder
- Add potatoes and carrots and cover the pan
- Add salt
- Stir every now and then
- Once the potatoes are almost cooked, add peas
- Once the potatoes and the peas are cooked, add garam masala, and adjust salt to taste.
Notes
To test if the oil is hot enough, add a few cumin seeds. If they pop within few seconds, oil is heated perfectly.
Once the cumin start to pop, it can burn quickly, so be ready to take next steps quickly.
